The Branch President's Silver Medal Award.
. In 1998 the republic of Ireland Branch of the Institution of Fire
Engineers introduced a new award to members for the best technical
paper presented to the Institution during the past year. The award is
"The Branch Presidents Silver Medal"
The
Paper must be on a Fire Engineering or a Fire Science subject, or a
fire related topic of interest and be presented to a meeting of the
Branch Members in at least one venue.
The presentation should last a minimum of forty minutes and a maximum of fifty minutes.
The subject content of the paper must be substantially original and any information taken from another source is to be acknowledged.
The award will consist of a medal, a certificate and a prize of €125.
The Branch Council will choose the winner of the medal.
The year period over which papers will be assessed will run from June 1st to May 31st. Assessment will then take place and the award will normally be presented at the following AGM.
Where the Branch Council considers that there are other papers worthy of sufficient merit it may decide to award "Testimonial Certificates" and a prize of €30. A maximum of four Testimonials may be awarded in any one year.
The Branch President's Silver Medal will be open to all Corporate Members and Graduate Members of the Branch
It is a condition of the competition that the author of any paper entered will give permission for it to be reproduced in part or full in any of the Institution's Publications.
We would like to take this opportunity to encourage all grades of members to submit articles for publication in our "Fire Journal".
